Dr Lai Kah Weng
Medical Director SRU
From starting rugby in secondary school to representing Singapore as an “Anchor Red” in the late 1990’s, Kah Weng has always dedicated himself to the game. His rugby career peaked in a memorable International Test Match against China in 1997 at the old National Stadium, where Singapore won convincingly by 33-3.
As Medical Director since 2011, he leads a committee of sports physicians, physiotherapists and medial trainers to provide professional medical care to the various national teams. This Medical Subcommittee also determines the medical policy for the union and helps resolve medical issues related to rugby in Singapore.
When not looking after the medical issues in SRU, Kah Weng works as a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon at the National University Hospital. Away from work, his family remains his greatest source of motivation and pride.
