The Blacks Rugby Football Club Fund Raiser will see to the need of exploring a clubhouse with amenities like a rugby field in Singapore, this will enable us to provide and maintain a high level of rugby to one and all.
A little history of Blacks Rugby, we are the longest standing local club in Singapore – established in 1955, our mission is to be a leading, sustainable local rugby club that brings local players with rugby pride to wearing the Blacks Jersey. The intention is help build up the Singapore Rugby scene and contribute to community building and cohesion in Singapore by encouraging both the young and old to participate in all versions of Rugby. It was only some 41 years later in 2006 that the Blacks Women’s wing was born. Since then, they have developed into the most successful side in Singapore Women’s Rugby despite their tender age of 21 years!
Blacks Mens notable achievement is winning the 2003 M1 Premier Championship and later back to back finalist from 2007-2010 in the then Division 1 league. Whereas, Blacks Women’s success has been phenomenon, the club had won the annual National Club 7s 12 times and the National 15s league 9 times! Since the establishment of Blacks RFC, the club has provided a steady supply line of players to both the Singapore National Men’s and Women’s 7s and 15s teams, a testament to their quality of rugby.
In addition to their hard work on the pitch, Blacks RFC has been heavily involved off the pitch for the rugby community as well! Organising various rugby initiatives such as the Blacks Midnight 7s and 10s, and Blacks Fun Touch. The club has been at the centre of growing a vibrant local rugby community. Blacks Women’s also organises rugby clinics which are open to everyone, they have held a few successful 15s introduction to rugby and positional skills clinic.
Blacks has been struggling to find a foothold when the clubhouse and pitch at Farrer Park was taken back by SLA. Presently, we have got a strong young team for both the Men’s and Women’s that we are hopeful would bring the revival of Blacks RFC to its’ glory days, your donation through this fund raiser will help us in our canvassing for finding a New Home as well as contributing to our programme with SUN-DAC; a non-profit social service agency that serves and cares for persons with disabilities in 3 centres.
