The second round of the World First Premiership began in earnest on Friday night with the match of the week that saw the Societe Generale SCC 1st XV face off against Bedok Kings under lights.
The last time the two met this season saw a try fest on the Padang, and it started out looking more of the same from SCC as Bedok conceded a host of tries in the opening 20mins. SCC did themselves no favour with unforced errors which could have seen the 54- 7 scoreline extended. Bedok came out strong in the second 40, and some stellar performances by Gaspar Tan saw only 2 tries scored in that half. Bedok will need to show that same sprit when  they come up against Saints RFC this weekend.

Saints RFC went into their game against the World First Lions looking for their second win of the season. Missing from the vaulted backline for Saints was Nicholas Yau and Sidney Kumar and that seemed to be a crucial element for them as the tries did not seem to flow so as easily. Lions looked itching to play and their backrows were again making an impact at the breakdown. The Lions have certainly grown as a team and their structure and breaking of the gain line saw them close up a 10 point gap, but that was not enough as Saints came away with a  scrappy 18 – 15 win.  Saints Vs Bedok this weekend will be one to watch as both sides push for a semi final place. Saints will definitely relish the encounter, as Bedok look to show them who is boss.

Wanderers continue to run amok in the World First Premiership and seemed to score at will against Bucks RFC.  The halfback combination led by Damien Hoo continues to impress and the hard hitting centre pairing constanly break the gain line. Wanderers by far is playing a very up tempo brand of rugby and it does seem to put them ahead of everyone else. Bucks under coach Neil Best were combative as always but simply had no answer as Wanderers came away with a 29 -7 win.

SCC vs Bucks this week will be interesting as we head into the business end of the season. A win for SCC will be good for the soul, but mathematically they do not have a chance to win the league at this stage.. A Bucks vs SCC game is always one with blood and thunder for sure.

Wanderers will face the World First Lions in the match of the week, and it will be seen if Wanderers decide to coast to a top place finish or come out guns blazing. The Lions have certainly improved thus far, and it will be seen if their improvement continues.
