SRU Standard Chartered Development Officers had their capabilities, and patience, tested as they undertook a two day coaching clinic at Kent Ridge Secondary School which involved 250 pupils all taking part in Tag rugby at the one time. The coaching sessions for 14 pear olds, which are part of the MOE Sports Education Programme, required the use of 14 support coaches who used 90 balls at 14 different locations throughout the school grounds. Standard Chartered RDO Muhd Zaki says ‘These programmes are increasingly popular for schools to try out rugby and Kent Ridge is certainly taking full advantage of that”. Ms Steff of Kent Ridge says ‘Tag rugby is very popular amongst the students. It creates an opportunity for the students to understand and show their capability in different aspects. As such, they also discover attributes such as integrity, resilience and friendship parallel to their school values, from taking part in this programme.
